Who is this guy ?
Well I guess just a normal guy, my name is Olivier Borgognon, i run a dive center during my days and spend my nights and time off shooting a little bit around mallorca where i live, and at some events like friends birthdays, dive shows or wherever i can take my camera with me.
I have had the chance to receive one for my Birthday, so my actual equipment is the following:
- DSLR Canon EOS 450D
- Battery Grip (BG-E5)
- Prime lense of 50mm f/1.8 EF
- 18-55 EF IS f/3.5-5.6
I used to do some photography on print when i was at college, on a nikon F-601 which i finally got rid of in january 2009 with 2 lenses… and have not touched a DLSR or SLR since 2001 when my daughter was born… i guess with the compact and the ease of use of digital… i went off the idea of paper and cost. I was almost going to go crazy on a Nikon D1 when it came out… but hey reason got the right of me thank god for that with after thoughts.
My next purchases for camera equipment would include (guys that’s my wish list for grouped birthday presents) :
- Manfrotto Tripod with ball-Head (250€ approx)
- Tokina 12-24mm wide angle lense… the canon are outrageously priced… can’t afford them
- Canon Speedlite 580 DX II flash
I would like to go into a little more of studio photography and for that i would go for :
- 2 pocket Wizards for flash control (owch… 160$ each on amazon, need the pair to function)
- 2 umbrella swivel (30$)
- 1 white umbrella (25$)
- 1 black umbrella (25$)
- 1 soft box (50$)
- 2 Bogen-Manfrotto 156BLB Light Stand (55€ approx)
Surprisingly i am into underwater photography… but i really don’t feel like taking my DSLR under there for the moment. I would really enjoy discovering more of wedding photography, glamour, landscapes and more of those technical, out of the box situations where creativity would make the shot.
I work on my pictures using a basic laptop, and for the sake of yet not having everything available under linux my solution is bridged.
- Ubuntu Linux 8.10 Intrepid Operating system
- Virtual Box with Windows XP Pro SP2
- Lightroom 2.0 for photo retouching
- Blog under wordpress to learn how to use this tool a little more
